DKD-1405 Contact Spray Cleaner has the following advantages:

  • 1) It exhibits an excellent cleaning effect by a combination of special organic solvents.
  • 2) It has reduced influence on plastic and rubber members due to optimum blending of alcohol, etc.

Cleaners using an organic solvent have the following concerns:

  • 4) It may cause fire or explosion when being used for a high-temperature part, or a place where fire is used or sparks fly.
  • 5) The cleaning effect thereof may be reduced due to volatilization of a solvent when being used for a high-temperature part.
Thus, a nonflammable cleaner is optimally used for the above cases 4) and 5).

DKD-9000 Nonflammable Spray Cleaner

DKD-9000 Nonflammable Spray Cleaner has the following advantages:

  • 1) Unlike the case of using an organic solvent, there is no need to pay special care to the health of operators.
  • 2) There is no need to pay special care also to the storage due to its nonflammability.
  • 3) There is relatively less risk that a solvent adversely affects plastic and rubber members.
  • 4) There is no risk of fire or explosion when being used for a high-temperature part since the solvent is noncombustible and a filling gas is a Co2 gas.
  • 5) High cleaning power is exhibited for small parts due to small surface tension and high permeability of the solvent.
  • 6) A load imposed on environment which may cause global warming, ozone layer depletion, and the like is extremely small.

A contact rust preventing grease imparted with rust prevention ability is optimally used for electrical contacts and connectors.

This contact rust preventing grease has the following advantages:

  • 2) It has reduced influence on plastic, resin, and rubber.
  • 3) It has a reduced oil evaporation loss, is unlikely to be subjected to oxidative deterioration and solidification, and can thus function as lubricant for a prolonged period of time.

In a sealed space, a vaporized type rust preventing agent exerts its effect over a long time period. Specifically, a vaporized rust preventing agent exerts its rust prevention effect for a portion to which a rust preventing spray cannot be directly applied and their effect for components in a comparatively large space. This vaporized type rust preventing agent includes a powder type whose amount is easily adjusted in accordance with space size and an easy-to-handle sponge type with which agents are impregnated. Only cleaning and rust prevention of a metal surface are not enough to provide lubricity.

A lubricant needs to be applied between two metals in contact with each other. If it is not applied adequately, both the metals are subjected to friction, wear, and damage, with the result that the weaker one of the metals experiences severe wear and damage to be destroyed in the worst scenario.

Oils and greases

Oils and greases are commonly-used lubricants.

Oils are advantageous in terms in cost (capable of being used in bulk); however, they are liquids and need sealing equipment, etc., for storage. If oils are not adequately stored, they may be leaked or dispersed to lose their lubricity.

On the other hand, greases are obtained by semi-solidifying oils with a thickner, so that they can be selectively applied only to a portion needing lubrication.

DKD-0481 MoS2 Silicone Grease Spray

A molybdenum disulfide silicone grease is optimally used for a portion needing higher heat resistance, higher cold resistance, or higher load resistance. This molybdenum disulfide silicone grease has the following advantages:

  • 1) It is excellent in heat resistance and cold resistance by adoption of silicone grease.
  • 2) It is excellent in load resistance due to containing of molybdenum disulfide.
  • 3) It has reduced influence on plastic, resin, and rubber.
  • 4) It is excellent in water resistance and oxidation stability and can thus be used as lubricant for a prolonged period of time.

Molybdenum disulfide dry coating

Oils and greases are easily attached with dust, which may rather deteriorate their lubricity.
In such a case, a dry lubricating coating film is optimally formed on a metal surface.
To form the dry coating film, there is available a method including applying surface preparation treatment to the metal surface and spraying a resin-based lubricating coating material, followed by drying and fixing by baking.
However, considering the absence of such equipments and the easy handling, aerosol products are generally used.

Note: Baked dray lubricating coating film is advantageous over films formed using aerosol products in terms of strength and durability.

DKD-0801 MoS2 Paste Spray is used to form a semi-dry coating film of molybdenum disulfide on a metal surface. It is particularly excellent in terms of initial conformability and seizure-preventing ability.

DKD-0901 MoS2 Dry-coat Spray is used to form a dry coating film of molybdenum disulfide. It is optimally used for a portion vulnerable to oil and dust.

Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2)

MoS2 Powder

Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) is a natural mineral and exhibits a high lubricating effect.

Molybdenum disulfide has the following advantages:

  • 1) It is soft (Mohs hardness 1) in spite of being a mineral, has fine particles (from 0.4 μm) and is easily attached to a metal surface.
  • 2) It is excellent particularly in terms of cold and heat resistance (-180 to 450°C), pressure and load resistance (2,842 MPa), and wear resistance ( μ = 0.03).
  • 3) It is chemically stable and does not adversely affect other mixtures (fats, resin, rubber, sintered metal, etc.).

Molybdenum disulfide having such a property is used as a compound material.
The followings are other application examples of Molybdenum disulfide:

  • 1) It is added to oils or greases to increase lubricity.
  • 2) It is used as a coating material for surface treatment of metal components for which lubricity is required.
  • 3) It is added to plastic to be a material for various components.
The molybdenum disulfide-containing plastic has increased plastic hardness and has a reduced friction coefficient to exhibit lubricity without requiring oils or greases. When a part at which metals are in contact with each other is replaced with a part at which metal and the molybdenum disulfide-containing plastic component are in contact with each other, wear and damage to the metal can be reduced, and replacement of only the molybdenum disulfide-containing plastic component can achieve long service life of components.

DAITO develops designs to meet these individual requirements. Film thickness, film strength, baking temperature, time, etc. are finalized through prototyping, testing, and evaluation at the individual design stage.

In general, a grease containing 3% Molybdenum disulfide can reduce friction by about 10%.
A molybdenum disulfide grease is produced by selection of a base grease, blending ratio of MoS2, and a combination of grain sizes so as to satisfy required load resistance, heat resistance, cold resistance, long service life.

For a molding die and an injector of an injection molding machine, cleaners and silicone sprays are suitably used respectively as a cleaning agent and a releasing agent for reduced coat and easy handling.

However, note the following:
1) When the molding die or injector of an injection molding machine has a high temperature, silicon residue may remain. This poses the inconvenience that much time and labor are required for removing this residue with an ordinary parts cleaner in addition to the above-mentioned problems involving use of the parts cleaner at a high temperature.

In such a case, a fluorine spray is optimally used. The fluorine spray has the following advantages:
1) It does not adversely affect either metal or other substances such as plastic and rubber.
2) It provides a long-term releasing effect.

A fluorine grease spray is preferably used for lubrication of an injection molding machine.
As for the fluorine products, fluorine may be subjected to some restriction as one of environmental hazardous substances.
